Sandstone joints

I'm in the process of laying a sandstone patio which the missus has insisted should have a "contemporary" look. Personally I think she watches the wrong kind of TV programmes and reads magazines she shouldn't.

This look requires the flags to be butt jointed which in some areas has worked, however, some joints are perhaps 2-3 mm wide. Is there are filling type product I could use that would mask the gap without staining the sandstone?

Romex do a product that you mix with any kiln dried sand and brush into the joints, perfect fo a diy job. It's called Rompox Terrace I think and it'll probably do the trick Bannister Hall Nurseries in Preston sell it.

i was using "romex terrasse" today funnily enough
it really is the dogs nuts for patios
we mixed it with RMC KD sand which is a light pinky-yellowy colour
will post pics tomorrow
unless the sandstone is sawn i cannot see how you can butt joint it?

Tony,

Ive been trying to source this Romex terasse or find any info on it.

Is this the same as Romex Patio. I dont really want too mcg water going through the joints, id rather it ran over them.

yes mate ,it is the resin rather than the premade stuff
as i said before i think terrasse means patio in jarman

Thanks for all the tips fellas, the finished patio looks good, it's earned me some cred with the missus! The sandstone is now sealed and ready for the summer onslaught of red wine stains.

Next up is stepping stones across the lawn; I've no doubt I'll be online seeking advice again.
