I am going to extend my garage along the boundry with my niebough.
I should have done this sooner but my new nieghbors are going to build a panel fence soon.
I dont want the hassle of building a wall adjacent to their fence, as rendering will mean dissmantling there fence?
So I want to build a wall which will eventually be part of my extended garage.
I do not have time to apply for planning (they will start to erect two to four weeks) so I thought I will build wall now.
The main question is if the extended garage wall is ten to twelve metres long and approximately two metres high then a single block wall of 100mm will need supporting pillars?
Also the far end of wall will have end garage wall of say three metres. So thats a "L" shaped wall.
Also I f I use a DPM then surely the free standing wall will be weak at this point?
Advise needed on construction of wall and anything else.

Any wall over 1200mm high MUST be designed by a qualified structural engineer. Unless you are lucky enough to attract the attention of a passing Struct.Eng. willing to offer advice FOC, any advice offered by non-qualified Brew Cabin Irregulars, myself included, should be checked with a Struct.Eng before commencing construction.
If I tell you how to build such a wall, I am putting my indemnity and liability insurance at risk because I am not a qualified engineer. I'm not going to do that in a public forum!

So do I need to actually employ a proffesional for plans / planning from local council.
Or do I just build a lower wall?
as a rule ,we have 450 by 225 mm piers every 1.8 m in a free-standing wall.
also bear in mind that no part of your construction may overhang the boundary,so if there is guttering or fascia that side it must be taken into account.
also you may need planning permission anyway,you are proposing to extend your garage by 50 m3 which is a lot
better to check it now ,as if you don't the lot may have to come down,and believe me i have seen it happen===>not pleasant
also if you build your wall ,why does the neighbour need a fence?

Thanks again for your replies, and fully appreciate Tony's points.
The nieghbour when I said that I would be building a wall said that they need the fence for their child (flimsy mesh with angle iron at present) I have dogs but we all want our privacy when chilling out amongst the weeds I said that it would make my work difficult can you wait and they said the mans coming the end of month to "rip the garden out"?
They said are you rendering the wall yes my reply.
They mentioned their old nieghbours built such wall and left it bare!
I said I better build wall tommorrow.
They are an ex legal secretary in previous unconnected conversation.
God forbid they know "Party wall" dont want to go down that route if I dont have to.
Other nieghbours wanted to give me land cause the fence I put up was not going to line up nicely with garage!
You think that they would like to hang on to their money.......
