Patio depths - Depths of hardcore

Hi Guys this is my first blog.

I have to lay an Indian sandstone patio. I have read many books/websites etc that have told different depths of materials to use. I am confused. Perhaps you could clear this up for me.

My questions are.

1) How much compacted depth of hardcore should I put down?
2) How much compacted depth of sharp sand should go on top?
3) How much depth should the cement bedding layer be ideally?

Is it okay to compact the hardcore and then cement directly on top of this or do I need a layer of sharp sand first?

for a patio i usually use 100mm of type 1 ( hardcore ), but you dont need both a layer of sharp sand and a bedding layer, you lay your bedding directly on the hardcore.
