Just laid a large area of Indian Sandstone which has been down for 4 weeks, looked lovely until recently. About 1 week ago irregular white areas started to appear on the surface of the stone like salt marks, varying in size. I called the company I bought the stone from and they said it was unusual but suggested that I jet wash the white areas. Since then the white areas seem to be spreading slowly so not sure if I should leave it or try to remove a different way.......
Any suggestions welcome as it looks horrid!!
Many thanks

thats weird , i must have laid 400m in the last 12 months and i have never seen this
what type of stone was it?? i.e. rosemount ,or cragside
sounds like efflorescence
if it is it will pass in time
had the stone been stored in the rain ? i seem to remember it being rather wet about a couple of months ago?
cheers LLL ???

Not sure of the tech name for the stone, it was a pink / sandy colour indian sandstone. it was very dry when it was laid but rained heavily for 2 weeks after. Not sure what conditions the stone was stored in prior to receiving it.
Its like white salt marks you get on bricks sometimes, i'm guessing its the same?
Thanks for the reply
