help! i've got a garden that slopes away from the house and am going to build a patio. my question is do i need to build a small wall (about a foot higher than the slabs) where the patio ends to box it in, or is it best to end the patio with the last row of slabs supported by breeze blocks or bricks underneath so that the slabs are in effect overhanging the edge?

i think both idea`s work well, i use reclaimed railway sleepers to retain any slope, but does make laying the patio easy, but for a 1 ft wall you could do that easy yourself with breeze blocks and lay then with a overhang..........but remember to leave a slight incline for a run off.......

depends what the gradient is
if the drop is higher then 450 really you need to build the wall past the patio,if it is lower run the slabs over the wall
