Hi

I am building a new Sandstone patio and need some help with the base & bedding mix.

Sub base is 4" of type 1 on compacted clay soil.
Sub base has been compacted with a compactor and is only damp not wet. Final patio height will be 8" below DPC

Sub base has been sloped away from the house and retained with shuttering. Width is 3M what drop should I have over 3M to allow for drainage 3cm?

I need an individual bed as the slabs vary in thickness.
I was going to start with a depth of 50mm at the house.
What mix should I use Wet or Dry semi dry?
What sand/cement mix should I use? I have seen anything from 1/3 up to 1/10 recommended.
Do I need a dry mix for all slabs except the ones on the edge?

Best Regards
Stafford

you should aim 150 below dpc 8" is fine. drainage 1 in 40. why shuttering? a small upstand, or, slab on edge would retain patio. 10 x 1 sharp sand and cement is fine . wet or dry is your choice, i .go for semi dry. good luck
