Laying indian sandstone - Both ways up ?

Patio flagstones (slabs), concrete flags, stone flags including yorkstone and imported flagstones.

is it ok to lay indian sandstone with the flat side down ? i think this is a more attractive finish but is it recomended ?

I prefer laying it with the taper to the bedding, i dont like it the other way up. Ive never had any indian sandstone with what i would call a 'flat' side tbh. Just a less riven side heh. It can go down either way thought, its just whatever suits you :)

It's intended to be laid one way, as explained on the main website. If you choose to lay it upside down, don't expect any sympathy from the supplier if and when it goes awry.

Also, because of the varying slab thickness you get varying depths of the bevelled edge. This would result in a huge variation in pointing gap.
