Scaffold poles - How long?

Totally off topic, but I've just renewed my interest in amateur radio, and need to buy a couple of scaffold poles to mount my aerials on. Can someone tell me the standard sizes for poles - its a long time since I did any scaffolding, but I seem to remember they were in multiples of 5ft (or 1500mm in foregin money). Is 20ft the longest, or can youget longer lengths?

Also, any bright idess for fixing them to the wall. Most folks seem to use T and K brackets made from angle iron, but they look somewhat unsighlty. I wonder if I ought to talk to my local blacksmith?

a "long" as scaffs call it is 21',i think they have 10's 18's and various other bits,when they scaffold the front of terraced houses there are special ring fixings for tying in to the brickwork,these sound like what you need,btw a long weighs a hundredweight in steel less in ally

pity you are not closer, as I have an aerial pole that is about 20' long that was going to be dumped, and it is brand new. I just want to give it away to a good home. I hate waste

have you thought about key clamps? They have lots of fittings/joiners/brackets and tube.

you can get scaf' poles any length up to 21, simply cut to size. also you can get connecting sleeves to make them longer. i'm sure you can get 50ml brackets to fix to the wall. don't forget the hammerite as they look shite when they weather. sounds a good hobby what with modern technology and internet etc; is there still a lot of interest?

Its certainly changed a lot since I was interested in it as a lad. Now everything is "off the shelf", rather than home-built.

There is still some sense of achievement in talking to people on the other side of the world. BIggest problem at the moment is avoiding the planners - everything over 3m now has to have planning permission - even a scaffolding pole! Luckily chimneys aren't included - yet!

i thought it was everything over 4m? or are you in the peak district or something?
always worth looking on your local freecycle group for bits and bobs like that danesis,everone i know has a scaffold board,clip,plank and or 20 bricks and a few roof tiles in there garden
