I've got as far as laying sub-base, edging units down one side and one row of slabs.
Now need to go to do my normal work for a few days. Weather forcast not good.
Should I be worried? My slabs are on 10:1 sand:cement, with a large wodge stickig out from under the laid slabs and, of course, no pointing yet. Does it matter when the water gets in? Is there a danger that some will be washed away? Most of the sand/cement layer is 40-50 mm thick, although it goes up to 80 mm in places (so I could correct the slope).
Also, will rain affect my "wet" mortar used to bed the outside edge slabs and edging units (it is a ready-made 6:1 mix - incidentally this strikes me as weak compared to the 4:1 recipe given on this site - any comment?)
The sub-base sits atop a very poorly draining clay sub-grade.
Thanks all - will give feedback on my "adventure" when finally done (its killing me!)

Ok to leave half finished patio in the rain?
