Alas the granite prices were too good to be true but the dreaded but attractive travertine is available at a very reasonable (trade) price. So, my question is....for the price of chancery and the like we have the chance to get 30mm thick travertine. We are thinking at this price surely it's worth a punt and ok it will age but were in our 40's so who will age first?
Accepted it's not going to look like Rome in a year or two but how bad can we expect it to get?? Won't it just age nicely etc? it'll only get foot traffic after all and is sheltered although in Fife.

Personally, I wouldn't have travertine anywhere near my property. It's too slippery when wet, it discolours too easily, especially if leaves are left to lie on its surface for a few days, and those vesicles (the holes) fill up with crap in next to no time.

You should be able to get a vey attractive Norwegian granite for under 40 quid per metre from GU in Inverness.
