150mm to dampcourse

Could you tell me how critical this is.Ihave a very solid concrete patio which has good drainage etc and i really don't want to take it up to lay a new surface of slate/tiles.I would rather buy the thinnest slate or tile and lay on a thin bed of mortar or adhesive.The level of the patio at present is 2 bricks
below dpc.Is it legal or a good idea to go above this?

Not a good idea to breach the "150mm below" rule. If it was going to be 140mm, you'd be OK, but you'd be lucky to get a flag and bed less than 40mm, which means the finished level would be just the sort of thing a surveyor picks up on when you come to sell the property.
