Well pushed the boat out 1st March purchased brand spanking new 7.5 ton fuso tipper 26500 inc vat 3 day into chuffiing a long clutch goes while in a quarry. Ok i did get stuck for all of 10 seconds but when i realised i was going no where i waited for a push. Drove home difficult getting gears but made it. Called mercedes who service mitso trucks to be told its not the clutch but a internal gearbox problem that is covered by warranty. Recovery arranged, dealer calls 2 days later sorry it is the clutch and its not a warranty bit "what you taking the piss 700 mile son the clock and its not warranty " yup £1600+vat ouch and when they have the truck you have to pay or no truck back in the process of filing legal claim against the buggers

I thought there had to be a minimum 12 month warrantry on all new kit, whether it's a van, a car, a moped or a 23T long-reach tracked excavator?

If it was me, that truck would be parked halfway through their main display window by now! :p

Speaking of useless self-abusers... Luhadia Stone Company in India. What a set of mithering shit-fer-brains. I warned them a week ago to stop pestering me with their crap stone, but have they heeded my warning?

£1600 for a clutch sounds extortianate. I got a reconditioned gearbox and new clutch installed in my Cabstar for less than half that.

That is the trouble with those main dealers. I would get on to your solicitor or down the CAB if you can't get them to sort it out on the warranty. Sounds like they are ripping you off.

most vehicles are covered by a 3 year or 60,000 mile warranty. My nissan is, and it includes the clutch. unless you have done over the stated mileage (700 is not!!), then they do not have a leg to stand on. Fight on, and let me know what happens. I will give them some abuse at SED this year.
I was considering a 7.5tonner at some point, but i can't justify having it off the road every 6 weeks for these silly checks or whatever it is they do, and paying for it.
bet they don't loan you one when its in for a service either. Buggers!!

well no joy from the dealer look slike small claims court under the 1974 sale of goods act.. They will have to prove that during the 300 miles they did in the truck while delivering it no damage was caused to the clutch. Still love the mitso though 4 ton capacity only down side is they put a 56 mph limiter on the bugger

Cough, splutter & hint - It’s the Sale of Goods Act 1979 :D

There’s nothing worse than getting into the I mean business and take no prisoners mode, only to have the upstart at the other side of the desk or on the other end of the phone correct you – although there was lots of legislation created within 1974 I cant help but think its the Health and Safety at Work Act from that year that’s making you think the dates 1974
