Hi, I laid an exposed aggregate driveway yesterday, which was fine, put retarder on it to brush it up today as it was getting late, went in this morning, and the surface concrete was going off, I pressure cleaned it got the slurry off, which was very patchy, then tried Disclean , basically an acid was, which helped but not nearly enough, tried pressure cleaning again..areas are so-so, other areas are terrible, does anyone have any advice regarding "fixing" this problem, no matter how obscure it is...the local concrete plant charge £150 a ton..not to mention it would be a nightmare to redo it, not to mention very very costly ! Is there absolutely anything I can try ? Any help would be very greatly appreciated, Many Thanks...Great site !

Yea thought that might be the case...thanks for that :-)

Wondered if there was any industrial substance, Fosroc or something that might break down the top layer.....

if there is i bet pound for pound scabbling would work out cheaper, also, more environmentally matey. i done thousands of metres of retarding. now and again it wouldn't take due to either, rain, or, sunshine. i sympathise with you m8 its soul destroying. dont top yourself just yet, its fixable :;):

Not sure what finish you are looking for bit if you can't improve the existing finish then how about scabblin off the top 10-15mm and relaying the finish with a new thin bonded layer?

We have a product called Ronafix which 1) sticks the new screed on to the existing and 2) allows a thin (6mm+) screed to be laid. Incorporate your stones in the thin screed, wash, etch, brush to expose the aggregate, and you're done.

Give us a call if you want to know more.

Good luck.
