I would like to pave a large patio with travertine but the product I have in mind is quite "holey." Is the frost going to eat into this eventually and break up the surface? Has anyone seen travertine that has been down for a few years?
The location is exposed but not in a "frost pocket"
my mate is a stone floor fitter/mason and he says he cannot believe the soft stone that people are using outside let alone inside these days, its caveat emptor on this one mate
i have seen the holey one, looks like cottage cheese
good luck

As I've said a million times before, I've never understood why the importers think Travertine is suitable for outdoor use in these damp and soggy islands. Leave it in Turkey, where it belongs!
