i work for a large company where the health and safety is hammered home. but i am still amazed that in some areas it is lacking, due to the costs. cutting into pile caps ready for splitting, men are using stilh saws , with another man throwing water on the blade with a bucket. i personally think that practice is amateur and dangerous. ask the storeman for a water pump and the answer is " the buyer wont allow it. " thank you for the advice tony. i went to the site you suggested and printed off the paperwork to show the lads the dangers at work. i for one dont and wont be dry cutting, and, neither will i allow it at my place of work. we are in a confined area also which adds to the problem.

I'm not sure whether Elfin Safety are wanting to prosecute a 'test case' to send a warning to the industry at large, but I have to attend a forum meeting with them next Friday in some place called Lan-dan or summat and it ha sthe grand title of "Reducing respiratory disease in kerb, paving and block cutting" so, if you can all contain yourselves, I'll report back and let you know what the latest thinking is.
