you could build brick columns, put in some falsework, reinforced steel then concrete the deck. then you could put whatever you want on top.then you put doors on the outside for a bit of storage. necessity is the mother of invention. the timber in situ sounds like it would rot and fail eventually causing smells and vermin plus collapse of the structure. but good luck to you in whatever you decide on. ???
There's alot to do inside the house which i'll get on with while it's cold and wet. The patio come deck come mezzanine will happen April / May. I think i'll build a small test square metre in timber and see how things flex before i do decide and do the whole thing.
True but it's been a bit of a long term project. Meter moved and rewired, replumbed, rooms knocked through, extension built on one side, windows redone and some converted to patio doors, replastered. All but the plastering and brickwork done by me, while i do my own 50 to 60 hour weeks in work. Therefore i'm allowed a wee bit of procrastination now and then.
