Pic or impegnated bitumen - Any names of contractors

My drive is of old tarmac constuction including the last layer of 10mm thick laid by "the boys from the blackstuff" 50% of which is now in the bin!
The base however is very solid (apart from one tree root line which I know will require digging out and concreting). I have read about both PIC and Impregnated Bitumen and am looking for;
1) advice/opinions about the two options.
2)Names of any Contractors who will operate in the Wirral area.
3) Ideas on cost per sq m. (total area abot 225sq m)

PIC should cost between £45 and £130 a square metre (including digging out and carting the muck away).

However, if you find someone offering PIC at £45 a square metre you need to be wary as it is pretty much impossible to lay it correctly at this price. As your driveway is 225 square metres (ie, a good size) one would hope that any quote would come in at less than £130 a square metre unless you are having a very fancy design done.

PIC is a very good surface if installed properly. If installed badly, it can be a nightmare. Unfortunately I see more bad installations than I see good ones.

I would phone suppliers of PIC materials for contractors. Creative Impressions and PICS are two of the better known firms that supply the materials. You can find their contact details in the suppliers section of this site.

Another advantage of PIC is the speed of installation; it can be done very quickly.

Thanks for the replies guys. As the base is so firm I won't need to dig out so that should save something.

No replies on Impregnated Bitumen. No-one out there who has been involved?

I am not sure exactly what you envisage when you say impregnated bitumen. Bitumen impregnated with what?

streetprint is imprinted asphalt.bitumen is the binder used in asphalt

By the way, my blacktop drive is 50 years old at least; do I really need to dig it up and stone as recommended by a contractor or is it best left undisturbed and concreted over if I opt for PIC
