Setts and cobbles, tarmac, asphalt, resin systems, concrete whether it's plain, patterned or stencilled, gravels, etc.

Hi Tony,
Long time since I've visited the forum!

I'm making an existing concrete slab wider for a shed base.
Two questions:
1. Can I lay the concrete right up to the existing slab or do I need an expansion joint?
2. The strip of concrete which I will be laying is quite narrow. It will be 3 meters by 600mm by 120mm deep. Will this need an expansion joint in the middle.

Okay, I confess, I make a cock up; I poured the slab thinking the shed was 10' x 6' but it's 10' x 8' !

Many thanks
Gary

for a shed base i wouldnt have thought an extra 600 warranted an expansion joint,it would move along the joint anyway IYKWIM

I agree with LLL. I have done exactly the same mistake as you before. I just tacked the concrete on the side of the existing slab. It is still joined on and works fine as a shed base.
