hi tony, now that my drive is finished i have decided i want to change my edging blocks, iwant to use the small square block prob a different colour too.Managed to lever one of the existing edges out leaving concrete bed and haunching intact if all come out as easy is it just a case of swapping the blocks over? and i was then thinking of brushing a mix of grit sand and cement inbetween the joints,or do i have to chisel out some of the old bed and re-seat?
cheers

You like making work for yourself, don't you!

If the new edging blocks will squeeze in where the old ones were, then that should be fine, but, if the haunching comes loose, it should be replaced. If there's a gap between edging and haunching, then fill it with jointing sand, if it's under 5mm wide, or a wet slurry of 4:1 sand/cement if it's over 5mm wide. There's no real need to re-bed, unless there's a level difference, as the bed is purely to support the blocks and they don't need to be bonded to it.
