Frosty weather and laying slabs - Do i need to wait til spring to cement?

Other groundworks tasks, such as roads and footpaths, terracing, fencing, foundations, walls and brickwork, tools and plant.

Hi -

I'm sure this isn't the first time this question has come up, but I couldnt see anything in the archives.

I'm laying slabs and buidling a wall - in both cases using a wet mix. Is this still advisable when the temperature overnight drops below zero? Should I use a drymix instead to reduce the chances of damging my foundations/cementwork? Or should I just cover it with tarpaulin (would this even help)?

Or - is it OK to build early in the day so it has a chance to go off before the frost comes in.

Dont really want to wait until Spring to finish the job ...

Any advice appreciated. thanks, Ian
Ian

Just to get back on topic, I seem to recall from my days of writing specs something about "not less than 2 degrees C on a rising thermometer or 4 degrees C on a falling thermometer".
