Hi

New here so I'll try my best to get this right.....

I have several cracks in my 14 year old red asphalt driveway. Think it might be Red met or meck ?

They are beginning to lift on one side and it seems a good idea to repair them. If there is an undelying problem then it will at least put off the day for a re-lay. Am I right in thinking I can chisel out 3-4 inches either side, pack sand in and then use cold fill to repair the cracks. Colour matching will be impossible I know due to age of driveway

cheers LLL. I did read that and I am happy to assume that Tarmac patching applies to my cracks (sorry madam). My driveway is Red so I guess a visit to my local merchant for some bagged red coloured gunge and some sealing stuff for the edges....

This is tricky I know but I want to repair a larger area than just the cracks. Its a residential driveway, very small area 16 ft x 4 ft in Red asphalt. I live near basingstoke , Hampshire so apart from yellow Pages is there anyone on the list who will undertake small bits of work ?

Sounds like you need a driveway reconstruction, given the cracks that are appearing.

Any trees nearby? Root damage.......

What is the driveway construction - sub base thickness & type?
