??? Having spoken to the builders who are laying my block paving driveway regarding drainage.I have been told that a soakaway is the best way to get rid of the water which previously collected at the bottom of my 7m long downward sloping driveway.I am by no means an expert but, where is the water going to go to,I was told ,"it can just run off into the bush at the side of my drive".i have read that a soakaway should not be closer than 5m to the house. If a soakaway is placed right in font of my front door step will it effect the foundations?.i know what you are saying ,"have you not seen rouge traders"

If the run is toward the house, a linear drain would be best, running into a downpipe. In the past where ive been stuck for options ive ran a pipe from the linear drain into the garden and constructed a soakaway pit there. If it could run into a downpipe or another form of suitable drain, that would be the preferred option.
Also, why have you got builders laying your block drive ?

We do block paving (primarily as surfacing contractors) but it sure makes a change from that dirty stuff known as tarmac!

In stark contrast, all our work is fully exposed for all to see, just like a car paint sprayer.
