Hi,

I am going tomorrow, Friday 20th October for a job interview as a Health and Safety and Environmental Officer with a concrete manufacturing firm. I have the Nebosh General Certificate and am currently studying for the Nebosh Environmental and Waste Disposal Diploma. My background is twenty one years in the army.

I would greatly appreciate it if any of you could give me some tips on health and safety aspects which are especially prevalent with the manufacturing of paving stones, flags, kerbs etc. Similarily with any environmental aspects from the manufacturing, transporting and laying of the same.

I am trying to do as much research as I can into the firm, and also to have answers to any questions which may be asked in order to give as good performance as possible in my interview.

Your experience would be of a great help to me and will be very much appreciated.

Cheers,

ErnieL

If it's not too late, prime areas of concern in manufacturing plants are noise, dust, manual handling, vehicle movements, machinery, chemical storage, waste water disposal etc. and most importantly PAPERWORK!

If you want to, give me a call on 07721-038010, I've worked in and run concrete plants for 20 years.

Oh, and good luck!

Mouldmaker,

Thanks for your help. I did the interview this morning, and will know where I stand next week. If I get to the next stage then I will have another interview and if you don't mind I'll give you a ring before that.

However it goes I will let you folks know. And if I do get the job I'll pop in here for help and advice from time to time.

Again thanks,

Ernie
