Asphalt petrol stain - How to remove fuel stain

btw we were breaking some concrete in st albans yesterday and 1 particular patch was murder even with a hydraulic breaker,
anyway i had a close look at it and the aggregate was very chipped and uneven,whereas most ballast i see the 20mm stones are round.
i would have to say this crushed kind of aggregate was 3-4 times more time consuming breaking out and a lot harder,anyone else come across this????
