Instead of crusher run? Also what happens if i start laying and it starts to rain before i finish laying and compacting the drive, will the rain affect the compaction process?

Read the sub-base section in the main index - it's exhaustive. Don't short - cut your preparation, it will save on sleepless nights and 'right first time' is very cost effective. If your base is done properly the rain won't affect it and watch the weather forecast for a few clear days to finish laying and compaction. Good luck, Woocus

Thanks for the reply, i have read the sub base section but there is no mention of grano dust. Its not the base i'm bothered about washing away its the sand under the blocks i've already laid :(

Not quite sure what you mean by grano dust but you need something more substantial than dust under your blocks.

If the sabd is compacted and the blocks laid then they should be OK. Torrential rain could be a problem on a slope though so lay a groundsheet over if you are worried.
You're entitled to the work, not the reward.
