I am going to build a raised patio, by building a small retaining wall. The patio will be attached to the house, I know the patio needs to slope away from the house but what about the wall? I was planning the wall to be about 400mm high and then butt the paving bricks up to this, but if I build the wall level and slope the pavers then it will look odd as the pavers will not sit flush at the furthest point away from the house.

Any recommendations? Should I build the wall a little higher and fit the pavers inside the walled area? Or should I slope the wall also away from the house?

always ,always build brickwork level ,it looks pants otherwise
anyone with a bit of kop on will know why the paving runs down on the bricks, and you only need a 1:60 fall anyway, about 1/2 " to a yard in old terms
good luck
