Gravel drive - Manhole covers in gravel drive

I'm breaking up an old tarmac drive and replacing with a mixture of gravel and block paved areas. I have a number of manhole covers which I need to deal with. Clearly in the paved areas I can use recessed covers and incorporate block paving but I am unsure what to do in the gravel areas.

Do I leave the existing covers flush with the gravel, hide them under the gravel (inconvenient when you may want to find one quickly) or is there a better way of disguising them?

I will probably get shot down in flames but u could fill a recessed tray with the gravel
I haven’t tried this but I have herd of people growing grass in a recessed try why not gravel

when the car wheel hits the tray it will move and your sewer will be filled with gravel,thats why not andy!
i got exactly the same detail at home and i intend to gravel over the existing cast iron lid (obviously making a mental note in my riddled brain where it is)
this is just my opinion but i saw a neighbour try it and the result was a IC half full of gravel and a damged car
i have a feeling recessed trays need to be encased with immobile material
i often get ppl on new estates with unsightly manholes in their gardens (especially storm) and its a bit of a sticky one to get over

I think Lutonlagerlout is right.

I might also, perhaps, consider taking one or two courses of bricks off the top of the chamber in order to lower it a little. And then putting the drive on top. Just make sure you note down accurately where the manhole is located is.

After all, how often do you need access to your manhole? And as it is only gravel it is still relatively easy to access.

If a recessed cover, lay a thin levelling screed using Ronafix mix A, bonded to the metal cover. Leave a few mm below the finsihed level that you need. Then lay Ronadeck Fast Grip on top of the screed with your choice of aggregate from our range.

If a flat cover, clean, apply Ronadeck Fast Grip Metal Primer, then lay Ronadeck Fast Grip with your choice of aggregate from our range.
