Building next to an inspection chamber

Foul and surface water, private drains and public sewers, land drains and soakaways, filter drains and any other ways of getting rid of water.

Hi

I am wanting to build a side extension going onto my driveway, the problem is that I have a shared private sewer running down my drive.

I believe I can build right upto the sewer pipe as long as either the pipe is cased in concrete or the foundations are level with the sewer pipe. This would just about give me the required extension size

but the big problem is the Inspection chamber. This is brick built about 5 ft deep and has a 52cm x 68 cm cover. In order to build the desired extension I would have to build all the way upto the wall of the inspection chamber. Under any circumstances is this possible, from what I have gathered the closest I could build is 1Meter but is there a way around this.

sounds like you may have to move the pipe run,you need to consult your architect,a structural engineer and your local building control

as a rule they hate buildings near pipes, and the footings will have to be deeper than the pipe run
hope this helps

Thanks for the reply tony. I didnt think building in parrallel with the pipe but about 1ft away would be a problem assuming the foundations are to correct level. I thought the main issue was the clearance around the inspection chamber.

Does anyone no the minimum distance you can build away from the sewer pipe

Any more info & guidance appreciated. There doesn't seem an alternative route to lay a new sewer except the next door neighbours drive and i'm sure he'd not be impressed by that.
