I've got a plot to build a house on, good news it's halfway up a hill with tremendous views - bad news, it's halfway up a hill.
Access at the moment is a 1/2 mile unpaved cart track, average gradient around 1 in 9 and well drained.
Have you any idea of budget costs I should use for making it into a hardcore track ?

! in 9 would be well drained wouldn't it.
Try to go for summat better than hardcore - I will be a big heap at the bottom in a couple of years. Concrete would be best. Try for some quotes as there are too many variables. Although hardcore may be best for the builders lorries then finish it after.

hoggin perhaps?? i know a groundworker who swears by proper hoggin, with half a mile anything else is gonna be big bucks
even crushed concrete will cost a lot for this amount of drive
i expect you are talking 3000m2,which even in concrete will cost you in excess of £200,000 and that is a lot of money
better to buy a decent 4 wheel drive and leave the cart track i reckon
cheers tony
