This is a frantic plea for help from an idiot.
My monoblock drive has been down for about seven years and there were some weeds coming through the joints. Rather than take my time and do some research, I charged ahead and blasted out the weeds (and most of the joints) with a powerwasher). Some trumpet told me to put sharp sand in the joints and I spent about three days unsuccessfully trying to brush it in. Thereafter, I was advised to combine kiln dried sand and cement and brush that into the joints. My drive is now stained by the cement and the sand is coming out of the joints in heavy rain. Can anyone provide advice on sorting this shambles as I'm nearing the end of my tether.

use a weak brick acid solution to take the cement staining off john ,making sure to hose it as soon as the cements has dissolved ,then jetwas all the sharp sand out, allow to dry thoroughly then brush "kiln dried sand " into the joints
then vibrate witha wacker plate and refill with more kiln dried sand
you may bleach some of the blocks with the acid but it is damage limitation now i'm afraid
hope this helps
