hi guys i want to have a go at block paving my front garden is around 60m2 is this too big for a novice?
at the minute i have a central path with grass either side and a hedge at the front, i have access to a mini excavator so i plan to take out the edge and path and excavate the whole garden by 200mm then use a plate vibrator on the excavated area and fill any holes with sharp sand then lay around 75mm of hardcore an use the plate vibe to get it down to 50mm then put around 75mm of sand on top and plate it down to about 50mm then lay loose sand about 15mm and rake over top then start laying the blocks, then plate vibe and fill with sand and plate again, does this sound about right?

what i need to know is how do i know how many tons of hardcore and sand to order and what do i do about the edges? also i want to put in a four foot fence at the front of the garden but do i put this in before or after the paving?
any help and advice is much appreciated also does anyone know if there is anywhere i can see a picture step by step guide on net?
