Finally got to setting my lights into the Indian paving - I built some rough shuttering directly under the holes which I have bored into the paving. The shuttering is a 22cm square cube, with the lights being about 12cm in diameter. I will lay the paving on mortar all around the shuttering, but was just wondering how the slab will cope having a 22cm sq 'hollow' in the middle of it where the light body fits into and all the wires etc are kept? i.e. do you think they will break if there is any weight put on the 'unsupported area'? If so, do you have any tricks up your sleeve for supporting the centre of the slab, but still allowing room for the lights / armoured cable etc below the slab?
The slabs are 560x560mm, and 560x270mm, and are average thickness, i.e. about 1inch.
Also, when complete, do you know of any good sealants? I was told by the builders merchant that it won't need sealing, but it looks so much better when wet - when dry it looks a tad 'grey', but when wet all the colours come out.
Thanks - I am nearly finished now, only taken 4 months(!), but then it is 30sq metres, and has been an on/off weekend project! Will send in pics when complete.
