First off what a great site this is, its made me decide to attempt block paving myself ???

Just a few Q`s before I Start (Wreck) my patio.

Can i use this existing base as a sub base (not blocking off the air brick) or will it need to be removed to a lower depth?

How do I go about altering the grids/pipes etc?

Do I need to cement edging blocks in or can I just create a main body down this aisle?

You are already too close to the dpc. Dig it out and get the level down to 150mm.

You will have to work out the drains when you can see them. If the pipes are cast iron then be very careful not to break them.

Again, Bob is right. You're too close to the dpc to avail yourself of an overlay.
