In a previous question, decking is regarded as an open structure and therefore does not have to be 150mm below dpc. Is this still the case? If the decking is a stand alone structure and about 40mm away from the house how far below the dpc should it be?

Thanks Tony, we have recently had an extension and have put decking around it (not your cup of tea I know). We had the building inspector round for the final sign off and he refuses to sign it off because of the decking. He has said that because of potential splashback, the decking should be two courses below dpc, or 150 to 200mm away from the extension. Perhaps he has something against decking or maybe me?
Cheers
