How to lay 90○ herringbone width way

Hi Everyone.

What a great site?

I have read loads of pages & topics on this site. I cant get my head round what way to start laying my blocks in a 90 degree herringbone pattern.

I understand that the best way is across the shortest distance. So my 1st block would be a half, do my 2nd & 3rd ones go up or accros??

I know its only a short quick question. I have managed to find answers to all my other questions on the forum & site.
Maybe I missed the answer to this one.

Start in the middle and lay the whole blocks first. You may have to fudge the pattern at the edges to avoid having blocks cut to less than a third.

I assume that you have already laid the border (with fully mitred corners).

I have looked at the diagram for the 90 Degree herringbone.

The 2nd & 3rd blocks go up,
Is this better than going across??

think the animation is fantastic.shows how laborious it is to pave on a 90 degree angle

It is more difficult if the edge isn't at 90° to the base line. (Is it ever?)

If it is then you have to create an artificial edge and infill the space later.
