Hello everyone just like to say what a fantastic site and its my first time using a forum of any description.
I am planning to extend my current patio which is layed with 600x600 and 600x900 buff 50mm thick council flags . My plan is to lay as suggested 35-50mm of sharp sand and cement direct onto earth, compact down with vibrating plate and lay slabs on top .
My queries are as follows
Is screeding method suitable for laying these flags onto
What is the basic method for obtaining a level bed of screed is it best to install edge strips first and use these as a level to drag screed board along.
Finally how does the rest of the project sound

Thanks Evanbean :D

its all on the site..
you might find it hard to handle the 600x600 and 900x600 flags onto a screeded bed as it will be awkward , so the individual beddin method would probably be better in this case. as also described on the site, it is easier to put the edge courses in first and then screed off these to work to levels
