depends what blocks you use, for example if you use Marshalls Keyblok blocks, you would need around 3200 blocks i reckon, but if you go for the likes of Marshalls Tegula, where they have different sized blocks, say you wanted the 120 gauge, you would then need 1664 large blocks, 1984 medium blocks and 384 small blocks, bringing the total to 4032. It all depends on the size of block you use :)

Paving is sold by AREA not by number of blocks. You calculate the area, add 10% or so for wastage, and Robert is indeed your mother's brother.

To back up Tony's last comment. I calculated my drive size to be about 160 sq meters (including paths etc) and used Tony's rule of thumb of adding 10% for wastage. This turned out to be 15 packs of Driveline Excel (10.54 Msq / pack) and 1100 (odd) charcoal driveline 50 for soldier courses and details. I now have about 30 charcoal blocks left and 1 and a third packs of Excel left. I was lucky with a low level of waste, only replacing 4 blocks in the finished drive for spalling prior to final sanding.
