This is my first visit so hope this message is ok and posted correct.
I,ve just had 3m of ready mix delivered for a driveway area but unfortunatly I,ve made a mess resulting in a poor finish wih a lot of cracks.
Is it possible to sand or polish concrete?
Or, is there any sealant or cement product to paint over?
Any advice will be most welcome

Hi, I'm in a similar position, read my topic, "Raising garage floor" As far as i can tell, cos there hasnt been much replied to my last question, but there is an adative from ronacrete, that may do the trick with sand & cement. think its called Monoset. How much it is I have no idea, would be nice if they told us or gave a rought price on their site. £20 or £200???

Hi
There are several solutions; depends how bad the cracks are, whether the surface is too rough for a coating to even it out, how you want it to look when finished.
The most decorative/functional overlay is Ronadeck Fast Grip
You could hire a mechanical diamond grinder machine, or employ the services of a specialist to grind it for you.
As to prices of Monoset, £32 to £42 per 25kg pack, depending on grade, with quantity discount breaks. Please call us for more information. Monoset is NOT an additive; it is a complete prebagged rapid set floor repair or bedding mortar with a rapid strength gain, reaching high strength strong enough to drive a car over after only 1 hour - and it works down to -10oC. SO a lot different to an additive.
If you want to add something to a mortar or concrete to make it stronger, touggher, bond to brick, mortar, concrete, lay as a thin screed (min. 6mm), use Ronafix for Flooring
Price is £7.33 per litre, delivery charges and VAT apply.
Again, please call for more information.

Thanks Cob Nut and Simon for your replies.
The cracks I want to fill are only 1mm wide and mostly around the perimeter of each of the 12 bays where it bonds to the enclosure blocks. I intend skimming the whole area 60sq. meteres with a grinder and then maybe paint a border edge or possibly the lot with ronafix.
As I only want to raise it by approx 2mm Ronacrete suggested to use Ronafix, which sounds ideal.
My only concern is that this is a drive and it may crack or soon wear off.
What's your opinion Simon?

You can't lay a Ronafix screed at 2mm; 6mm is the minimum - which is what I said in my previous post ...
You'd do better to go for the Ronadeck Fast Grip option. It'll look better and won't be much thicker than 2mm or 3mm.
Regards

Thanks for the advice Simon
I had taken note of your first suggestion but I thought an aggregate had to be put on the fast grip resin. So I telephoned Roncrete explained my problem and they said to use Ronafix, mixing it equal amount to cement and that it could then be brushed on as shallow as 1mm.
Having now read the full product information I see the fast grip can be applied with just the resin finish, so I'll take your advice and find the nearest stockist and cost.
Thanks again
Dan

1. you cannot apply Ronadeck Fast Grip Resin without aggregate
2. yes you can apply a Ronafix:cement slurry, and yes it will be ~1mm thick, but it won't look pretty and whilst it will fill the cracks, they may still be visible (they may look like cracks that have been painted over)
Decide how you want it to look before you proceed, or lay a small test sample somewhere out of view before you do the whole area. I'd hate for you to be unhappy with the finished job.
Also, the durability of Ronadeck Fast Grip can be measured in years. Ronafix and cement, as a drive on slurry, has no test data.
If you still want to go down the Ronafix route, consider a mix of approximately equal parts of cement (use white or a blend of white and Portland if you wish), Ronafix and medium or fine dry sharp sand. Apply at about 3m2 per litre of Ronafix. The sand will build in some abrasion resistance and also texture the surface, which'll also help cover the cracks. However it still isn't what I would call "pretty".
