Rodding eye in conservatory - How best to deal with this

My conservatory will have a rodding eye underneath the floor. It has been suggested to me that the best way to deal with this is to place a large recessed cover (the sort that can be used to hold paving slabs on a driveway) over the top and leave the rodding eye as is. The recessed cover will then have some some concrete and tiles fitted in to it to blend in with the floor. Is this the best solution? I worry a little about odours from the drains (the rodding eye has a normal garden-type seal) etc. I thought that it might be better to actually bring the eye to the floor of the conservatory with some sort of double-sealed unit. Any views? And where can I get suitable materials?

You can get an air-tight RE cover from several manufacturers, and then set it so that it will be lower than the base of the recess tray cover. Choose a RTC that is as small as feasible, say 300x300 or 450x450mm, and, if you can, get an air-tight internal version rather than the usual outdoor type.

A specialist supplier such as manholecovers.com is probably you best bet for the RTC, while the RE should be available through any decent BM
