I am truly shocked at how easily our Brazilian slate patio scratches! I thought it was durable, but it seems to gain a new scratch every day. Last night we got out the rattan furniture and where the chairs were moved, its scratched the slate to pieces...we really regret choosing slate now. I have some mineral oil that i've rubbed with a cotton bud into deep scratches, but it just leaves an oily mark! Is there anything at all we can do to prevent further scratches? It is going to look a mess at the end of the summer!!

Fit felt pads to the base/legs of any patio furniture.

Slate, like all stone, will scratch, if it's impacted by something harder, such as steel or glass. There is nothing that wil prevent this other than removing to harder materials.
