Hi,
I am doing a small patio (5x2) sloping away from the house.
The patio will lead into newly laid astroturf with full mot and sand sub base.
What I'm wondering is do I need a drain before the astroturf so that it doesn't get ruined or will the astro turf and sub base actually help drainage?
I have a baby and am really wanting to avoid small metal drains that can be dangerous and also not look that nice.
I did think a slot drain right at the end could look ok and the grass might actually brush over a little and cover it slightly.
Any advise would be appriciated.
thanks
Is patio drainage needed

For such a relatively small area, you would probably get away with draining towards the Placky Grass but the downside is that it could end up encouraging mosses and the like set up home in the damp plastic strands.
A simple slot drain dirrected to a soakaway or the nearest SW connection would be the best option.
