I have admired the forum from a distance for a while and have today signed up for some advice. :-)

I've been approached to relay a patio. Everything is solid. 100mm+ compacted hardcore, 30-40mm sand cement bed and then a 30mm grantite with a slurry bond to the back. The Client doesnt like the granite and wants to tile directly over this....Crazy i know!

Presently the tiles are unsealed and ungrouted and they have asked about tiling directly over... there is a sufficient height allowance but I'm a little hesitant given the actual base of this is not solid concrete.

any advice would be gratefully received.... i may go down the route of ripping up but seems such a waste of labour if not needed.

As long as the granite flags are firm, stable and not a trace of movement, then you should be OK.
