Hello
I'm a complete paving novice and would like some advice regarding cladding my existing concrete terrace, path and steps with slate. The concrete is around 30 years old and is in good nick with no cracks. I have already read your advice regarding the pitfalls of laying paving over an existing sub-base as regards to the DPC etc, however my property is on a hill and the area I am proposing to pave over is well below said DPC (approx 2m). Please could you advise me on; a) the thickness of slate I should use, b) the relevant ratio of sand:cement I should use in the bedding layer and c) What mix I should use on the steps, incidentally I'm not planning on cladding the risers. Any advice would be most gratefully received..
