Hi, we have had a new patio laid but the pointing is already crumbling in places. It’s only been down a couple of weeks. The slabs were laid in the extream heat in full sun. One day was mid 30 degrees. I’m concerned that the Heat has caused it to dry out too quickly. If this is the case what would be the solution?

Thanks

Rake it out and repoint it on a cooler day
basically the mortar has cooked, dried out before it cured
the installer should have known this

Thanks, that's what I thought.

Will this also have caused issues with what the slabs were laid on also?

Thanks

not necessarily
pointing is more susceptible as it is in full sun
