Hi guys, quick question.

I've recently laid my patio and used compacted hardcore MOT type 1 as a sub base with treated timber edge restraints as the level is slightly higher than the adjacent flower beds.

Will the timber rot and the sub base give to lateral pressure meaning the patio will come away? And so do i need to lay edging stones? Or can i get away without doing this? I like the look without edging stones.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Personally i wouldn't use timber, they are difficult to get straight will move laterally and cracks will form on your joints. Also the stakes will be showing. look here and scroll down to next page

yes they will Rot
but 11 years ago I did similar at home and rather than have stone right to the face of the board I used concrete around the board
the timber has now rotted away but did its job acting as a restraint to the concrete
I hope this makes sense
