I am looking to re-point my sandstone patio and ideally would like to use a resin based mortar but am unsure if they are suitable as they seem to need a permeable base but my patio was laid on a sand/cement base, is this correct, any suggestion on which product to use?

I have had excellent results with VDW 815
london stone stock this
patio needs to be clean first of course
