We had a new sandstone patio laid in May last year. We noticed marks all over the slabs and to cut a very long story short we have finally been told it's compound staining and it's been recommended that it's cleaned with Cif and sanded...but we don't want this to be done. We bought expensive stone because of the texture and want it replaced as we feel the above is acidic and sanding will change the surface texture. We chose sandstone because we like the roughness under foot, if that makes sense. Any help would be great, thank you in advance. Oh and it was geofix and now I am reading many many comments on this product.

there is a very long history of that product on these forums
it may take you a long time to get your sandstone replaced
more than likely the product you mention will have turned to dust by then
LLL
"what,you want paying today??"

GeoFux strikes yet again! Another ruined patio and still they sell this shite!

Cif? Really? Are they taking the piss? What a stupid suggestion! Which eejit came up with that?

And to suggest sanding??? Well, I'm gobsmacked! Whoever suggested that wants a hole drilling in their head and someone fill it with horse droppings then at least there'd be something in there, as there's obviously not a single bloody grey cell present!

Look to try a specialist resin removed, such as Paramose or Resin-ex. There's no guarantee they will remove every last vestige of that crap that is sold as GeoFix, but either would perform far better than Cif (FFS!) and don't even consider sanding! If the GeoFux hasn't ruined the stone, then the sanding certainly will!
