Hi all, I'm currently finishing the 150mm hardcore sub-base for a Tumbled Travertine Patio, about 7 sq. Metres. The slabs are 30mm thick, & off-white colour. To be laid in an opus pattern, the sizes range from 200x200mm, up to 400x600mm.
I was planning to lay them on a 50mm bed of sand/cement, over the compacted hardcore base, but having read-up on here I'm concerned about the risk of staining. I have a 4l tub of SBR, my main question is if I Bond-bridge the backs of the tiles with SBR, (diluted?) would this reduce/remove the risk of staining?
This would save me from buying white sand / specialist mortars, & as I already have the SBR spare, it would be a cost-effective way of going forwards.
The other thing is whether using SBR would allow me to lay the stone on a wetter bed of sand/cement, as this would make laying easier.
I've done a load of reading-up on here, if anybody could chime-in with advice, I'd be grateful
