Hi Chaps, I have been asked to lay ducting within the drive that I am excavating for tarmac. My question is this... he has asked for ducting for gas, electric, water, broadband and tv. Can I lay just one ducting with the string already in it for all these services or do they have to be separated? I really appreciate your feedback.

Kind regards

Lou

No chance.
4" is easier if client willing to pay.
Go 900 deep water - their inspectors are nazis. Photo before backfill.
Leccy black duct. Min 450 deep
Gas perforated duct. Min 450 deep.
Can usually get free grey rigid duct from open reach for nowt. Depth not crucial

Gas yellow.
Don't think water colour is crucial on own land. Probably neither is leccy. Might mean you just have to buy 1 yellow roll

Other than gas, colour isn't crucial, as jwill says, but it's bloody handy for anyone excavating in the future.

There's no necessity to put water and/or gas into ducting but if you;re waiting for someone else to install the actual pipe, then putting in a duct with a draw rope can allow you to backfill and crack on with the proper work while you wait for the slug-a-beds to rock up at some inconvenient time of their choosing to drop in the alkathene or service pipe.
