Hello, I am after some advice, we are in the process of having a new patio laid, about half of it has been done this week and the builder is coming back to complete on Monday. Over the past 24 hours I've noticed marks appearing on the stone and also noticed some are wobbly.
I did ask that they be laid on a full bed. I have lifted one of the wobbly slabs to see what's below and although there does seem to be a full bed and lots of mortar there are voids. The stone is sawn camel dust.
I'm now having a major panic, are the flags ruined, will they all need re-laying, it's cost us a small fortune so far
Thanks LLL, reflective staining was my fear, I'm not sure on the sand going to have to speak to him in the morning. What is the best course of action now?
I'm guessing those that are showing staining are done for?
Those that aren't are we safe to reuse and will it all need to be lifted and re-laid on a new bed?
Reflective staining and more than a suggestion of spot bedding.
Practically impossible to put right. The flagstones *may* clear up over time, but, if I was the client, I simply wouldn't be interested in taking the gamble. I'd be expecting this "builder" to replace the lot, and lay it correctly (or employ someone that knows what they are doing) and all at their own cost.
